a look inside this work in progress_____________________________
- a rough sketch
Twilightstar is large-framed, but not big in the weight or width sense; she is lithe and slender, with graceful movements and lean muscles. She is tall, which makes her seem imposing and often forces her to look down on other cats, which isn’t always what she wants to do. Her neat head is fairly round in shape, pretty and well-proportioned. She can seem, by her appearance, to be a quiet, shy cat, perhaps a gentle queen – this image can be created because of her neatness and slim figure, but appearances are often deceiving. Her height definitely helps when facing opponents, as many cats would take one look at her and think she was easy to beat. They, of course, could not be more wrong. Overall her build is tall, thin and elegant.
She has a fairly short, smooth pelt. The fur is slightly longer on her underside and legs, but it doesn’t boost her appearance size-wise very much. This doesn’t really matter though. Her fur is dappled, with ginger and black and brown – in sunlight it looks beautiful and seems to shimmer, like light dancing on the forest floor, while in moonlight it seems to glow silver and radiate. She has patches of white on her underside, her legs and a little bit on her flanks. Her chest is also pure white. The top of her head and part of the right side of her face is black and the rest of her face is pale ginger, apart from patches around her muzzle and between her eyes, which are also white.
Her eyes are another striking feature. The colours of the earth, they are a mixture of forest green tinged with emerald and a slight hint of earthy brown around the edges. Near the centre of her eyes, around the pupils, it almost looks turquoise. Both her eyes are prettily outlined in black, and they are slightly oval shaped.
thoughts in my head
Twilightstar is generally a friendly, welcoming cat. She is loyal, and always ready to defend her Clan. Just because she is a leader doesn’t mean she values her life, or lives, more than any of her Clanmates. She believes in equality for all, and likes to have a fair system in her Clan where everyone does their share of work and gets their share of prey. That doesn’t mean she is boring and plain though, far from it. Twilightstar loves drama and excitement, and she likes to stir things up in her life. She doesn’t interfere with others, but she does secretly love being the centre of attention. She isn’t vain, even though she likes to look her best, but she is confident, smart and cool.
On the other hand, she does have a rather black sense of humour. She isn’t always nice, especially when some cat has done something that really annoys her – like insult one of her friends or her, something like that. She cannot tolerate her loved ones getting upset or hurt. And she has a lot of friends – she knows that having lots of cats that are loyal to her is the key to a successful Clan. She does indeed make enemies, but not without good reason. When she meets new cats, she is careful not to judge them by their appearances – as she hates it when others do this. Instead she waits until she knows them fairly well before she forms an image of what they are like in her mind.
When it comes to friendship, Twilightstar ensures that she knows everything about her friends. She feels that this helps her know them better. She likes to make her friends happy – this is one of her true joys in life. Friends mean the world to this she-cat. She likes nothing better than to go out hunting with a few of them and have a great laugh, or to fight alongside them in battle. She can develop a very strong bond with a cat she has known for a long time, and so if she loses them in any way, poor Twilightstar will be truly devastated. Family are also important to her – she treats her whole Clan like her family; she is very protective of them, and gets angry with some cats at times but it’s only for their own good, and she loves each and every one of them with all her heart. However, if someone in her own Clan turned traitor or did something really evil, they would feel all of her wrath – they have betrayed the family and will often be exiled. Thankfully, most cats are loyal to her and will never have to endure the full force of her anger. The same cannot be said of other Clans though. Even though she tries to get along with the other Clans, Twilightstar will not forgive them easily if they do something really bad. Crossing the border accidentally she can tolerate, although it may result in a scuffle, but intentionally harming cats from her Clan or stealing prey she will not accept.
Finally, when it comes to love, a whole new side of Twilightstar’s personality emerges. She is very flirtatious with the toms, although she is careful to only flirt with ones that don’t already have a she-cat in their life, so as not to complicate things and start rivalries. She doesn’t always joke around with toms though. If she really falls in love with someone it will get in the way of everything else, which isn’t ideal. She needs a friend to talk to about it, a friend that can keep her down to earth and focused on the Clan. Surprisingly, Twilightstar can be shy around a tom that she really loves, and often won’t reveal her feelings until it is too late and he has taken some other she-cat as his mate. This can really damage her, as can a failed relationship when the love is not returned. But when it all works out, she will completely give her heart to that special tom.
